The Welsh capital is just an hour's drive from our office and offers great shopping, fine gastronomy and much more,  this all adds up to give us a close affinity with the city. Over the last decade, the city has been undergoing a remarkable transformation. The office market in Cardiff has been booming in the recent years and at 299 we take a keen interest in architecture and planning projects in the area.

We work closely with architects, consultants, fit-out experts and property owners in Cardiff and South Wales. Our experienced team of lighting designers are able to provide solutions for even the most complex projects.

The range of our projects varies from architectural feature lighting for reception areas, circulation areas in large office developments, general office lighting to lighting for offices in listed buildings. No matter the scale of the project, we love the feeling of putting our mark on the architecture of the city. The involvement of our team also varies from project to project. We work at our best when we are involved from the very early design stages and assist the client with full lighting design and lux level calculations. Some projects will need a site survey, others might require product specification and some might be in need of consultation or product supply.

EVERY PROJECT is different, but our service is a constant, we like to be involved and offer our technical advice.

The 5 storey office development, Golate House has recently undergone a major refurbishment and our team played a vital role in reviving this tired building with a new contemporary look. Working closely with the electrical contractor, Evans Electrical, 299 have proven to be a valuable support to the design team. A full lighting design and calculations were supplied, ensuring the new lighting would meet lighting regulations. New office lighting was delivered as part of Cat A fit out in a 'defurbishment' style. The scheme has a bold and contemporary look.

Originally a Victorian malt house, this distinctive grade II listed property has undergone a large redevelopment and has become yet another top end office development in Cardiff, housing a mixture of serviced and self-managed offices, The Maltings offers 95 offices in total to a wide range of commercial tenants. We were approached directly by the client and delivered an attractive yet efficient office lighting scheme, compliant with LG7. Our team has been involved with the project right from the early design stages through to the after care.

Dominating the city's skyline, the tallest office building in Cardiff offers 24 floors of first class office accommodation with attractive views and a convenient location. The office fit-out specialists, Paramount Interiors created a design concept for the refurbishment of the 8th and 9th floor. Working closely with their design team, we supplied slim continuous linear lighting for the corridors and circulation areas in 2015. A few years later, we worked with Paramount again on refurbishment of the ground floor, creating an impressive reception area for the international investment group.

Cardiff's most impressive office development, One Central Square, situated just off the Central train station, offers a first-class workplace with almost 1000 desks. Working with office design specialist, Morgan Lovell, our team supplied new lighting for the breakout spaces in the new offices of the fast-growing car finance company, MotoNovo. LG7 compliant linear lighting was fitted in-between wooden slats as an enhanced visual feature. This fast-paced project was delivered to the client in just 18 weeks.

After the success of the 1st stage at The Maltings, our team was involved with the lighting design of an impressive architectural feature lighting scheme in the courtyard of this distinctive office building. We created a bespoke scheme for the client featuring several suspended feature luminaires in bespoke sizes. Working previously with the client, we understood the design brief and the desire of pushing the design to a next level.

Occasionally we work on small retail projects where the lighting plays a crucial role in the branding. The BBC's Bake Off Crème de La Crème finalist, Laurian Veaudour approached us to create a modern lighting scheme for his artistic patisserie in Cardiff. After several site visits, which our team enjoyed very much, we designed a modern lighting scheme using suspended architectural lighting and suspended premium pendants from Tobias Grau. Working with a client who appreciates detail and quality of the lighting was very refreshing. The result is a simple yet trendy scheme with a clean and modern look, in keeping with the brand design of the popular patisserie. We just keep coming back for their delicious macarons!
