BESPOKE LINEAR SYSTEMS FOR LISTED OFFICE BUILDING
THREE CHANDOS STREET LONDON
Built in 1767 as part of a terrace of 5 properties, 3 Chandos Street was originally the family home of Sir Charles Kent, Member of Parliament for Thetford in Norfolk. It was then converted to serve medical purposes for a group of dental surgeons until the 1950's. The building was then occupied by the Wilson Mason architects for over 60 years.
This Grade II listed building is divided over lower ground, ground and four upper floors, comprising an area of 5,814sqft. When the building was acquired by Roca Investment, it was due an extensive refurbishment. Approached directly by the investment company in May 2017, we had been asked to help deliver a modern lighting scheme that would be suitable for a premium modern workplace. Our team conducted an initial site-survey and consultation with the client. The client had an idea of the look and feel they were trying to achieve for the project.
The design brief was to deliver a unique lighting scheme, that would not only look good, but would also deliver good quality lighting for the office space. The client wished to infuse some personality and colour. The new lighting had to be delivered within 6 weeks from the initial enquiry.
The space offers a combination of stunning period rooms, with high ceilings and a plenty of daylight. Our team delivered a full lighting design and working samples. We also produced renders to help the client visualise the space.
Bespoke rectangular shaped linear systems of several sizes have been designed for office spaces and meeting rooms across all floors of the building, and also the reception area on the ground floor.
The linear system using Leck suspended fittings in driftwood RAL colour finish has been used across the whole scheme to keep the design consistent.
The office lighting has been delivered on time within the tight timescale to the satisfaction of the client.
The result is a unique and contemporary lighting scheme which compliments the Grade II listed building. The new lighting contributes to a comfortable workplace for prospective tenants.
