One of the premier schools in the South West of England, West Buckland school has undergone a major refurbishment and a contemporary remodelling in 2010. The existing buildings were replaced with new bold structures, a beautiful connection of old with new.
Every year, 700 students ranging from the age 5 to 17 enroll to this vibrant boarding school.
Earlier in 2015, the works on the new Sixth form college started. The design brief was to source contemporary architectural lighting, which could be installed into the lay-in ceilings as feature lighting. The architect involved in the project specified the circular surface mounted Basic X1 for the circulation areas in the new social and study facilities. The 600 mm circular light fitting with a direct light distribution also provides indirect light distribution creating a light corona effect, an ideal feature for adding an extra layer of lighting on the ceilings.
The new building was opened in September 2015 in time for the beginning of the new school year. The new facilities are some of the best in the South West and much further afield.
