The successful travel search site and app Skyscanner is used by 80 million people every month. Available in 30 languages, Skyscanner allows for instant comparisons for flights, car hire and hotels, worldwide.
The company was founded in 2003 in Edinburgh and currently employs over 1000 staff, with offices in Barcelona, Beijing, Budapest, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Miami, Palo Alto, Shenzhen, Singapore and Sofia.

Relocating to a new London office, Skyscanner were looking to introduce the health benefits of ergonomic seating and biophilic design to their three-floor office space. The travel technology company renowned for embracing new technology wanted to nurture their talent and create a contemporary feel embracing the cool Scandinavian look and feel. Their in-house design team worked with the workplace specialists at Modus, delivering the design brief for the scheme.
Approached by the designers at Modus at the end of January 2017, our team assisted with the product selection for the office lighting. The brief was calling for a cool, urban appeal to the office space. The office lighting had to be incorporated with the biophilia.

All office lighting had to be LED lighting and compatible with DALI system to give the user more flexibility and control. The design preference here were round shapes, and softer curves rather than standard linear lighting. Working alongside the designers at Modus and electrical engineers at Advanced Power Developments, our team produced full lighting design and lighting calculations to make sure correct lighting level was achieved in offices, meeting rooms and breakout areas. We supported the designers with product samples and created lighting plots for 2 floors of the new office space.

In the open plan office, the TONGE suspended was used as the main office lighting. Combined with the custom joinery detail and green plants, the matte black luminaires with soft curved edge enhance the space. Bold and soft at the same time, the Tonge was installed in a diagonal pattern, bringing a playful touch and unique look.
In the auditorium, the disk shaped TALLA Suspended were used. The minimalist design of the Talla works well in spaces with exposed ceilings. The matte black finish blends in with the black ceilings, subtly enhancing the contemporary aesthetics.
To keep the design consistent, the Talla was also used in the breakout space next to the coffee area.
All lighting was supplied with DALI dimming, some luminaires were supplied with the integral emergency units, following the emergency lighting design. The project was fairly fast paced and the lighting was delivered on time to the satisfaction of the client.
