We are the Light Engineers. Bristol is our home town.

299 Lighting was set up in Bristol in 2009. It’s independent vibe gives us energy and the city is the source of our inspiration. We are proud to be part of its beating heart and in return, we love putting our own mark on the city – as a business and as lighting experts.
Through building strong relationships with architects, consultants, fit-out experts and property owners in Bristol and South West, we have become valid contributors to Bristol’s lighting industry and commercial property design landscape.

Delivering results.

With over 100 successfully completed schemes in Bristol and South West with a wide ranging focus; from visitor centres, small office studios to large office refurbishment schemes, we put our mark on the most prestigious refurbishment and new build schemes.

A good healthy mix.

Whether its standard lighting or complex custom made systems, we will take care of it all. We love working on large projects on commercial spaces that require collaboration with multiple parties, but we equally enjoy working on small creative studio spaces, showrooms or retail spaces.

Stepping up the game.

With our new facilities in Bristol, we can now inspect all goods before they leave our warehouse. We now offer a pre-pack service for large projects, ensuring all luminaires are clearly marked and organised before they arrive at site, making the installation process a breeze.

All done in-house

We have worked with the best architectural practices, consultants and contractors in Bristol, Bath and South West delivering lighting schemes all over the UK.

Tailored experience:

Like a good suit, our service is tailored to your needs. We work on projects that go over many months but are also capable of picking up fast-paced projects with a tight schedule. We work closely with professional specifiers, but are equally happy to offer a bit of “hand holding’ to businesses and commercial landlords, when needed.

Personal service:

With a friendly and helpful attitude we nurture every project from the initial enquiry all the way to project completion. And even then, we know the job is not over when we deliver the lighting on site. We can promise the same level of detail and care with any after sales issues.

Clear focus:

Commercial lighting covers a broad spectrum of applications. Our focus and expertise lies in workplace fit out and architectural lighting. From stunning reception areas, client facing spaces, entire offices all the way to gyms, bicycle storages, we light it all.

Why is good lighting so important?

  • Health Wellbeing
Good lighting can directly affect the health and wellbeing of the users in the space. Poor lighting on the other hand, can lead to fatigue, headaches, migraines and eye strain.

  • Sustainability
Upgrading your light fittings can lead to a more energy efficient and sustainable installation. Longer lifespan aside, professional lighting design using the latest LED technology and movement or daylight sensors can help you decrease the number of actual luminaires, using energy when it is needed.
  • Look & Feel
Architectural and office lighting are intrinsic to the look and feel of any commercial project. Designed well, lighting can compliment a building, enhance the interior design and maintain continuity with the rest of the design scheme.

  • Improved Productivity
Upgrading your lighting can lead to a more sustainable installation. Longer lifespan aside, professional lighting design using the latest LED lighting technology and movement or daylight sensors can help you decrease the number of actual luminaires, using energy when it is needed. A modern lighting control system can optimise the space even further.

What is lighting design?

Lighting design is a crucial part of the commercial design process. By specifying the luminaires and control systems, their placement and configuration, lighting will influence the aesthetics of any commercial and architectural spaces. Whether it is a great design, user comfort and wellbeing, achieving compliance or sustainability, we will tailor each scheme to help you achieve your objective.

Lighting design projects we are most proud of in Bristol

Eagle House

In the age of portable technology, we are able to control buildings within a few clicks on the screen. The growing expectations on sustainability, flexibility and connectivity put a great demand on commercial lighting. This seminar looks at the benefits of using wireless control systems in the workplace.

Beacon Tower

Our expertise in large-scale lighting projects made us the perfect candidate to supply the architectural lighting for the reception area at the iconic Beacon Tower. (formally Colston Tower)

The Horsefair Project

We worked on the product specification for the New Room visitor's centre at John Wesley's Chapel. The project is an efficient, yet visually attractive scheme with an architectural look.

What do our clients say about us?

"Working with 299 made specification of the luminaires a pleasant experience. Ramboll UK strive for excellence in all elements of the design, this was assisted by the great range of products meant, ensuring that the client’s expectations could be met. Support then through design stages, and on site was very good, and 299 were very helpful when on site queries and changes arose.”
